Candace and Chris’s Whimsical Winter Wedding

As a New England based photographer, specifically the city of Portland Maine, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless love stories unfold with beautiful landscapes and charming venues. Yet, there was something truly notable about Candace and Chris’s winter wedding at Birch Wood Vineyards in Derry, New Hampshire.

On a crisp November day, with the promise of snow, and Birch Wood Vineyards was adorned with twinkling lights, elegant chandeliers, and festive holiday décor. It was the epitome of a romantic winter wedding, set amidst the rustic charm of a cozy lodge. Within the hustle and bustle of the start of holiday season Candace and Chris celebrated the beginning of their marriage.

From the moment I met Candace and Chris during their Franconia engagement session the previous autumn, I knew this wedding would be special. The love that radiated between Candace and Chris was palpable, and it infused every aspect of their celebration with warmth and joy. Having worked many New Hampshire weddings, I thrive on capturing authentic moments, and this wedding was a treasure trove of candid emotions.

Using my trusty setup with my digital and film cameras, set forth to document every detail of their day in a photojournalistic style. From the intimate exchange of vows to the spirited dance floor, every moment was captured with an eye for authenticity and artistry. I always say my style of photography is a mix of heavily documentary style intertwined with an artistic and funky flare.

One of the highlights of the day was witnessing Candace and Chris’s first look amidst the winery in front of the Birchwood campus. Against the backdrop of Birch Wood Vineyards’ scenic grounds, Chris and Candace saw each other for the first time on their wedding day and read private vows to one another making for timeless photographs.

As a Maine wedding photographer, where snowy and wintery weather stretches from Halloween to Easter, I understand the unique charm and challenges of capturing the magic of winter weddings (a big reason why a Subaru is a must!). But there’s something undeniably special about a New Hampshire winter wedding – the crisp air, the cozy ambiance, and the sense of holiday cheer encompasses every moment.
