If you’re dreaming of a coastal celebration with ocean views, timeless details, and space to gather all your favorite people, a Nonantum Resort Wedding is hard to beat. Lauren and Colin’s summer wedding in Kennebunkport, Maine, was the perfect example of how this iconic seaside venue brings together elegance, energy, and a sense of place that feels unmistakably Maine.
As a Maine wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to venues that allow couples to be fully present with their people while still offering stunning backdrops, and the Nonantum Resort delivers on both.
This blog post will highlight the different areas of the Nonantum, from getting ready suites to the ballroom reception area. Highlighting the best places to take photos and what makes the Nonantum Resort so special for a wedding weekend.
The Nonantum Resort offers ample space for getting ready. One of my favorite things about the Nonantum as a Maine wedding photographer with a focus on analog photography is that it offers a unique experience and location for getting ready. The bridal suite is located on the first floor of the resort and offers plenty of mirrors and great lighting for makeup and hair. This is where photos generally start, and then the bridal party shifts upstairs into the honeymoon suite to get dressed. This is a great option for photographers and couples alike. No need to stress about cleaning up the getting-ready space for photos when you are able to walk upstairs to a completely clean area for those finishing touches.
Simultaneously, the groom and his groomsmen were able to get ready in a room upstairs. This separation creates an easy flow to the day and runs no risk of the couple seeing each other before the ceremony. Phew!

If you are planning a first look at the Nonantum Resort, a great place for those photos is the front lawn next to the Nonantum Resort sign. This space is separate from the ceremony location and getting ready locations. As a Kennebunkport wedding photographer, I also appreciate the lovely soft shade that works perfectly for portraits!

Lauren and Colin exchanged vows just steps from the water, with the ocean inlet behind them. The ceremony site at the Nonantum Resort sits right along the coastline, offering a natural, breezy setting that feels both intimate and elegant. The docks and lighthouse on the back lawn lend a charming coastal aesthetic to this Maine wedding venue.

One of the standout features of a Nonantum Resort is its ability to host large celebrations without losing its charm. Lauren and Colin had a full guest list, and the space handled it beautifully.
The resort includes a spacious hotel and ballroom, making it ideal for couples planning a wedding weekend experience. Guests can stay on-site, events can flow seamlessly from ceremony to reception, and there’s a natural rhythm to the day that keeps everything feeling connected. The perfect combination of indoor and outdoor locations for any weather concerns, while also allowing the beautiful Maine coast to serve as a backdrop for portraits, is everything a Kennebunkport wedding photographer could ask for!
As a Portland Maine wedding photographer, I often work with couples who want that balance. Something that feels elevated but still brings the coastal charm and allows for an intimate feeling to their day. The Nonantum Resort makes that easy. It is the perfect blend that creates a unique coastal Maine charm for their wedding venue.
The back lawn sits on the shore of the ocean and offers a great location for family portraits, wedding party photos, and couple pictures. I shifted around the property to highlight the best of this venue for Lauren and Colin!
