As a Maine-based wedding photographer, few weddings have stood out to me as uniquely as Molly and Tushar’s unforgettable day. Traveling to Connecticut to capture their celebration was an absolute joy. From their heartfelt ceremony at Essex Station to their vibrant reception at The Lace Factory, every moment was filled with authenticity, culture, and joy. Capturing their story through candid, genuine moments was truly an honor.
The ceremony at Essex Station was an extraordinary blend of charm and sentimentality. The bistro lights hung over the seats of guests and candles lined the aisle as Molly was walked by her uncle and father to Tushar at the top of the aisle. Set in the historic train station, the couple exchanged vows surrounded by loved ones in a setting that felt timeless and romantic. Outside of the ceremony hall, the train awaited guests to board the steam engine for their short ride to The Lace Factory reception.
One of the most memorable parts of Molly and Tushar’s wedding day was the train ride that transported the entire wedding party and their guests from Essex Station to The Lace Factory. The station, steeped in historical charm, set the tone for a day that blended tradition with fun. As the train gently chugged along the tracks, guests mingled, laughed, and celebrated with the couple, creating an atmosphere of excitement and connection. As a photographer, this was a dream—capturing spontaneous smiles, train tickets waived in the air, and snuggles in the seats from guests it was truly a cinematic moment.
A highlight of the evening was the Paebaek ceremony, a beautiful Korean tradition that symbolizes the unification of two families. Molly and Tushar donned traditional attire and participated in this intimate ritual, which included bowing to their parents and receiving wisdom and blessings. One of the most charming parts of the ceremony involved catching dates and chestnuts thrown by their family, symbolizing wishes for a fruitful marriage and children. It was a heartfelt nod to Molly’s heritage, and the couple kept things light-hearted and fun with a combination of tradition and their personal modern touch.
The Lace Factory, with its all-white interior and industrial charm, provided the perfect backdrop for the evening’s festivities. The open space, adorned with string lights and colorful decor, felt both modern and timeless. The industrial feel of the venue contrasted beautifully with the vibrant colors and textures of the cultural elements, creating an aesthetic that was as dynamic as Molly and Tushar themselves. As a Maine photographer traveling to Connecticut, I loved how the venue’s simplicity allowed the couple’s personalities and traditions to shine.
Molly and Tushar’s wedding wasn’t just a union of two people; it was a celebration of four rich and diverse cultures—Greek, Christian, Indian, and Korean. The day was filled with traditions that honored their heritage while weaving their love story seamlessly into the mix.
The reception began with the lively energy of a classic Greek dance, where guests twirled their napkins in the air to the rhythm of traditional music. This spirited moment brought everyone together on the dance floor, linked arm in arm, embodying the joy and community that defined the day.
From the train ride to the Pae Baek ceremony to the lively Greek dances, Molly and Tushar’s day was a series of candid, genuine moments that told a story of love and unity. The Emily Leonard Photography team wrapped up the storytelling portion of Molly and Tushar’s day by creating an end-of-night flat lay photo. Shooting their wedding in a film photography style allowed me to capture the richness of the day in a way that felt timeless and intentional.
This day was one I will remember. Each element of the day seemed to work in harmony, from the behind-the-scenes vendor team who worked together to create beautiful colorful tablescapes, to the florist who created beautiful displays of artful decor and bouquets, the day went off without a hitch. I am so honored to have been a witness to such a beautiful event, and I am so happy that these photos get to go home to Molly and Tushar to remind them of this special event for a lifetime.
A wedding day as seamless and stunning as Molly and Tushar’s is made possible by an incredible team of vendors. Here are the talented professionals who made it all happen:
